In this context and working with Viasats diverse and varied set of programs and products our EQA engineers are provided with challenges and opportunities to continually improve engineering processes and product quality. This includes working with engineering teams to help define life-cycles and associated engineering approaches that will be used as development proceeds from concept definition to fielded product. This includes defining collecting analyzing and reporting the metrics that will be used to help assess process application maturity and quality and to work with teams to continually adapt and improve processes. To accomplish these goals EQA engineers must have hands-on engineering experience in which they have lead development activities throughout the life-cycle from requirements analysis through customer delivery and support. This includes having a solid understanding of development tools and how they can be used to extract metrics of interest in support of process improvement activities. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence engineering teams from individual contributors to program managers is essential as is the ability to work in highly dynamic environments that require flexibility and adaptation to changing business objectives.
Viasat is looking for an experienced dynamic and passionate Software/Systems Engineer who is not afraid to continually stretch and grow to join our growing EQA team. As an EQA Engineer you will be a critical member of the Engineering QA team where you will utilize your analytical and critical thinking skills as you directly contribute to projects spanning multiple technical programs and engineering development. Your exceptional communication skills combined with your engineering background will allow you to understand technical aspects of programs and associated engineering development activity details giving you the ability to influence engineering teams from individual contributors to program managers. As a self-motivated team player with excellent organization skills you will enjoy the quick pace while keeping in sync with colleagues across multiple geographic areas. + 5+ years experience developing software and/or digital hardware including experience applying agile-based (e.g. Scrum) software development principles.
+ 5+ years experience with system engineering and system test activities.
+ 5+ years experience managing engineering teams.
+ Experience working with defining and managing engineering life-cycle activities from requirements analysis through verification and validation activities.
+ Strong communication skills both verbal and written. Must be comfortable developing and presenting briefings.
+ Familiarity with engineering tools (e.g. DOORS Jama Perforce GitHub SharePoint Atlassian tool suite (Jira Crucible etc.) Jenkins etc.).
+ Comfortable working in highly dynamic and innovative environments.
+ Experience working with metrics-based process assessments (i.e. determining how well a process is working and where it can be improved).
+ Bachelors of Science Degree preferably in Engineering (Focus).
+ US Government Position. US Citizenship Required.
+ Willingness to be submitted for a security clearance if required.
+ Up to 10% domestic travel.
+ Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python).
+ 5+ years recent experience in communications systems development satellite communications in particular.
+ Working knowledge of Government/DoD program acquisition environment.
+ Experience with practical application of CMMI and AS9100.
+ Solid understanding of Configuration Management principles and processes.
