Viasat is seeking an dynamic Quality Engineer to join our growing Corporate Quality team. In this exciting role you will be supporting Viasats growing commercial aviation business at our Carlsbad CA facility. Your extensive experience working directly with the FAA along with your expertise in commercial aviation regulatory compliance will allow you to serve as a liaison and main point of contact between suppliers OEMs Supply Chain Agents Operations Program Managers and Product Quality Engineering. As our airborne Products must satisfy a multitude of regulatory and high reliability requirements you will perform audits of our suppliers who deliver our FAA approved parts.
+ 2+ years experience working in a high reliability commercial aviation OEM as a quality engineer.
+ Prior direct involvement with FAA MIDOs FSDOs and ACOs.
+ Clear understanding of FAA Regulations pertaining to both PMA and Repaired Parts including EASA.
+ Clear understanding of AS9100 revision D requirements.
+ Previous experience in an organization who is a PAH and holds Part 145 Certification.
+ Prior involvement with submitting supplements for both PMA and part 145 additions.
+ Understanding of DOT Drug and Alcohol requirements.
+ Prior involvement with advising internal and external customers on regulatory requirements for releasing FAA approved parts.
+ Involved with FAA MIDO FSDO and D and A audits and conducted internal audits both internally and externally.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of configuration management controls.
+ Understanding of SMS.
+ Bachelors degree in an engineering or other relevant technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Demonstrated effective problem resolution and management of quality issues across a multi-disciplined team.
+ Up to 10% domestic travel
+ US Government Position. US Citizenship Preferred.
+ Knowledge of Oracle / Agile based ERP System.
