As a key member of our Corporate Quality Team you will be an active liaison and main point of contact between Suppliers Supply Chain Agents Operations Program Managers Design Engineering New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering and Product Quality Engineering. Your analytical and communication skills will be key as you resolve Supplier issues and drive corrective and preventive actions. Utilizing your collaborative spirit you will work with the Supply Chain NPI and Design Engineering organizations to develop new Suppliers and evaluate existing suppliers. Your attention to detail will ensure ViaSat standards are maintained. Your drive for continual process improvement will devise and implement world class Quality practices related to Supplier Quality and move Quality by Detection to Quality by Prevention.
As you plan and conduct activities concerned with supplier quality assurance by performing the following duties:
+ Plans and conducts supplier audits.
+ Performs risk analysis based on the commodity and supplier capabilities.
+ Reviews Statistical Process Control (SPC) at current and potential suppliers.
+ Documents data obtained during all supplier quality assurance activities Consistent with company policies and procedures.
+ Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during supplier quality activities.
+ Maintains and updates the approved supplier list as needed.
+ Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality activities.
+ Learns and maintains working knowledge of industry driven standards.
+ Collaboration with Engineering to refine specifications to ensure supplier good supplier interpretation.
+ Develop execute and analyze quality-reporting measures.
+ Audit suppliers and establish supplier quality requirements.
+ Participate in internal and external quality audits.
+ Interface with suppliers to assure that effective corrective action is implemented as needed.
+ Experience in a similar Quality Engineer Role
+ Knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control.
+ Ability to interpret engineering drawings read procedures and process guidelines record and interpret data.
+ Previous experience with ISO/AS-9000 Standards or similar
+ Working knowledge of PLM Tool (such as Agile) as well as ERP system (such as Oracle).
+ Working knowledge of Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) and other failure analysis quality tools
+ Ability to review 8D and 5 Whys corrective action responses.
+ Must have ambition (the drive to learn and achieve personal advancement).
+ Must display autonomy (ability to work independently with minimal supervision).
+ Must be detail oriented (ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task).
+ Demonstrate technical aptitude (ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information).
+ Advanced Microsoft Office computer skills to compute and compile necessary data and to present data in various forms for recording reporting and presentations.
+ Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
+ US Government position. US Citizenship required.
+ Up to 25% travel domestic and international.
+ Experience in a role related to space flight hardware
+ Experience in a role related to FAA requirements
+ Experience planning and conducting supplier quality assurance activities.
+ Experience in Quality (or Manufacturing) Engineering in support of electronic assemblies including SMT CCAs Box Build and Test
+ Lean Six Sigma (with belt certification).
+ Application of statistical process control (SPC).
