As our Senior Spacecraft Ground System Engineer you will perform the duties related to supporting the design implementation and maintenance of the ground control systems used for the operations of the ViaSat satellite fleet. This will include leading the development and operation of the ViaSat primary and backup control center ground systems for ViaSats SSL 1300 and BSS 702 satellites. Your experience with spacecraft ground system engineering hardware and software integration deployment verification and maintenance will all be put to use.
Specific responsibilities include:
+ Lead the ground system engineering team responsible for 24x7 control system operations of the ViaSat satellite fleet.
+ Provide technical direction and clarification of architectural requirements to ground system engineering team and test personnel.
+ Actively participate and lead the resolution of ground system anomalies ensuring the highest level of system uptime possible
+ Support the definition of operations concepts the development of automated procedures.
+ Interface with personnel from other organizations and ground system sites.
+ Provide verification and validation of satellite control system and the integration of remote ground system equipment.
+ Manage schedules resources and staff in order to meet assigned deadlines and to maintain system availability.
+ Support on-call responsibilities
+ May require personnel supervision.
+ Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Science Mathematics Physics or other relevant engineering discipline
+ 10+ years of experience with the development of implementation of satellite ground systems of multiple satellites from multiple manufacturers.
+ Operational experience with commercial off the shelf (COTS) satellite control and orbital analysis software systems TT&C hardware and computing hardware.
+ Operations experience with ground systems controlling multiple satellites from multi-manufacturers (fleet operations).
+ Understanding of satellite sub-systems technologies and operations.
+ Project management security and system maintenance for space and ground systems
+ Ability to work constructively as a team member with multidisciplinary experts (e.g. satellite engineers orbital engineers and satellite control professionals).
+ Knowledge of the required workings of real-time embedded systems/spacecraft flight software for the SSL 1300 and BSS 702 spacecraft
+ Knowledge of satellite communications including baseband RF systems and monitor and control
+ Operations including: procedure development training installation and deployment
+ Automation of satellite operation tasks including the creation of automated procedures for both satellite and ground components using manufacturers recommend operations procedures.
+ Integration verification and validation
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Project PowerPoint Word Excel and Visio
+ US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident Status Required
+ Ability to travel up to 10%
+ Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Science Mathematics Physics or other relevant engineering discipline
+ Knowledge of the Kratos ISI Epoch platform
