In this key Corporate Quality role you will be focusing on our Airborne Products which provide mobile broadband service on numerous aircraft throughout the world. These products include full motion antennas controllers modems and other terminal level devices.
While helping to improve the quality of our Airborne Products you will be interacting with many functional areas both within and outside of ViaSat. Some of these include Suppliers Supply Chain Agents Operations and Design and Manufacturing Engineering.
Our Airborne Products must satisfy a multitude of regulatory and high reliability requirements. You will help to identify areas of improvement and implement performance gains throughout the entire product lifecycle from design through fielded unit repair. Your analytical and communication skills will be key as you resolve internal and external quality issues and drive corrective and preventive actions.
+ 2+ years of experience in a Quality Engineer Role
+ Knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control.
+ Ability to interpret engineering drawings read procedures and process guidelines record and interpret data.
+ Previous experience with ISO/AS-9100 Standards or similar.
+ Working knowledge of PLM Tool (such as Agile) as well as ERP system (such as Oracle).
+ Experience interacting directly with Suppliers and end Customers.
+ Must have ambition (the drive to learn and achieve personal advancement).
+ Must display autonomy (ability to work independently with minimal supervision).
+ Must be detail oriented (ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task).
+ Demonstrate technical aptitude (ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information).
+ Advanced Microsoft Office computer skills to compute and compile necessary data and to present data in various forms for recording reporting and presentations.
+ Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
+ U.S. Government position. US Citizenship required.
+ Up to 25% domestic and international travel.
+ Well versed in IPC-600 IPC-610 IPC-620.
+ Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
+ 2+ years of experience in the Aerospace industry.
+ Experience with or direct knowledge of FAA Parts Manufacture Approval (PMA) and Repair Station (Part 145) requirements.
+ Experience as a supplier to Commercial Airlines and/or General Aviation companies.
+ 3+ years of experience in Quality (or Manufacturing) Engineering in support of electronic assemblies machined assemblies Electromechanical devices (motors fans etc.) cables and Box Build and Test.
+ Experience working with Oracle databases and Oracle Business Intelligence from both a Data Entry and Analysis standpoint.
+ Lean Six Sigma (with belt certification).
+ Application of statistical process control (SPC).
+ Working knowledge of Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA).
The ViaSat Atlanta facility is located in the northeastern suburb of Duluth. Having relocated to a new purpose-built campus this office supports the dramatically growing Antenna Systems Group with engineering program management business development manufacturing and product support.
