to contribute to the strategies and revenue streams in avionics equipment
products as the Director of Aircraft Operations for this mid-sized financially
stable and growing aviation communication company.

As the Director of Aircraft Operations you will
Oversee the testing production inspection and maintenance support of all
The company’s avionics equipment. Performance is rewarded and respected.
Key Responsibilities:
• Recruit and retain top engineering talent to build and direct a team capable
of leading the company’s aircraft inspection and maintenance requirements.
Provide leadership professional development mentoring performance management
technical direction and support;
• Direct the development of moderately complex aircraft modification specifications
and procedures as well as the development aircraft modification designs
and approve associated technical reports and final designs;
• Act as the authority on FAA and company safety and performance standards.
Direct all operations engineering activities to be in compliance with such;
• Demonstrate proactive and creative engineering judgment in anticipating
and solving procedural issues that may impact project schedules;
• Oversee the operations engineering team in the production testing and
mechanical support of cabin RF equipment (antenna cabling matching networks…);
• Develop and direct inspection and maintenance programs to ensure federal
compliance and reliable equipment performance;
• Maintain a current and up-to-date knowledge in the field in order to recommend
process changes or innovations that will improve the quality economy and
effectiveness of the Company’s airborne equipment.

LOCATION: Chicago ILL. Metro area

What we need from you:
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering related field. Advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years experience in supporting FAA certification projects and/or related
activities
• Knowledge of wireless airborne equipment and their use aboard commercial
airlines
• Experience in developing Supplemental Type Certificate packages and working
with the FAA regulators
• Experience working with teams of senior management design teams and various
internal/external customers as well as experience in various engineering
activities including avionics and wireless communications
• Must be familiar with commercial and private aircraft systems operations
and service documents
• Background with Federal Regulations (FAR 21 23 25)
• Ability to clearly identify procedural and certification problems and
work to solve these problems in accordance with prescribed policies and
procedures
